A Romantic Prairie Wedding in the Forest

It all started with a dress, a flowy, romantic, prairie-style dress to be exact. The Bridal Suite had a vision to create a beautiful scene to show off this unique gown. With this vision in mind, they knew that The High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon would be the perfect place to capture the concept. The Miller Family Ranch area of the museum is full of amazing photo opps, ranging from towering barns, intimate cabins and stunning wooden forest backdrops.

The Bridal Suite paired this romantic gown with a blue suit for the groom, complete with a grey tweed vest and blue bowtie. The attire perfectly complimented the rustic scenery, while still adding a soft, whimsical twist. Silverado Jewelry Gallery provided the alluring necklace, earrings and wedding rings for the bride and groom. Kaelin McDowell provided hair and makeup for our gorgeous bride.

Working around this romantic, prairie-style theme, we added a unique color palette, featuring bright yellows, oranges and blues. Revel Petals created a gorgeous bouquet full of romantic flowers that artfully complimented the design and colors. Silk ribbons were added to the bouquet, that were expertly hand-dyed by Pretty Please Silks. A full boutonniere suite was also created by Revel Petals to add some flair to the groomsmen's attire.

Benson Paper Co. created the charming invitation suite. The graphic design and calligraphy addressed envelopes highlighted the theme and color palette flawlessly.

For the ceremony site, we designed and created the blue and orange ribbon overhang to highlight the enchanting cabin. Adding some vintage decor and an officiant dressed in historic clothing, completed the sweet scene. A traditional handfasting was used during the ceremony to bond the bride and groom together as one.

After the beautiful ceremony, the bride and groom shared their first kiss. That was quickly followed by a photo with the local chickens that live at the ranch. Who wouldn't want to share their wedding day with a cute, fluffy chicken?

For the reception, we designed a head table that featured bright colors, a vintage flair and unique florals. Revel Petals created the wild centerpiece by intertwining flowers from three compotes. Set In Your Way Rentals provided the stunning wood table, crossback chairs and vintage dinnerware and glassware. White taper candles placed in clear glass bottles added a whimsical vibe. We added flowing ribbons onto the bride's and groom's chairs to infuse even more color. Benson Paper Co. provided the name card calligraphy and The Bridal Suite created the juniper name card holders.

We curated the picturesque cake table with a vintage tea set and romantic decor. Tiers of Delight made the darling cake, complete with delicate sugar flowers. Revel Petals designed the greenery overhang to frame the scene. Benson Paper Co. used tea plates to write in calligraphy and display the various flavors of tea available to the guests.

Gallivan Photo captured all of the amazing images, making sure to take full advantage of every picturesque location on the museums's property. From the majestic covered wagon to the quaint cabin adorned with Revel Petals' floral masterpiece, Caitlin and Tim were able to produce a story with their breathtaking photos. Mike Hiatt Media provided videography for the event, capturing amazing video that truly made this vision pop off of the page and come to life.

We had a blast building out this concept and styling these scenes. We loved taking the rustic barn wedding from overdone to fresh and magical. Every theme can be reimagined with new colors and innovative decor. What will you create?
